How We Test
Every rating comes from the same checklist, so you can compare one piece against the next honestly.
What we score
- Firmness & foam: does it hold the angle under real weight, or squash flat like a pillow?
- Angle & geometry: what it actually does for positioning and back strain.
- Weight capacity: whether it genuinely supports a couple's full weight, and a range of bodies.
- Cover & cleaning: removable, machine-washable covers and moisture-resistant liners.
- Size vs. storage & discretion: where it lives when it's not in use, and how quietly.
- Value: is the brand-name piece worth it over a cheaper dupe?
Our rating scale
Pieces are rated out of 5, halves allowed. A 5 is something we'd buy again without thinking; a 3 has a real caveat you should know before you spend; below that, we'll tell you what to buy instead.
Independence
We earn affiliate commissions when you buy through our links (see the affiliate disclosure), but payouts never change a score or a recommendation. When a cheaper option is the smarter buy, we say so.
